Cometic MLS Head Gaskets provide maximum sealing performance for today's high output engines and require no sealants. MLS (Multi Layer Steel) gaskets are ideal for performance engines, whether they use an aluminum head and aluminum block or a cast iron block. They are designed to withstand the shearing force created by engines with different metals used in the block or head of your Import.

MLS gaskets have outstanding strength because they are constructed of multiple layers of stainless steel. With this innovative design, they are able to create headgaskets that have the ability to rebound and resist corrosion. The top and bottom layers are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton (a fluoroelastomer rubber based material that is heat resistant to 250C / 482F). This unique chemical is designed to meet the demands of today's lightweight engines, which are producing more horsepower, higher cylinder pressures, more clamp load and extreme temperatures. The center, or shim layer, is uncoated stainless steel, which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements.

On select applications, we also offer Cometic's MLX line of head gaskets. These gaskets use an integrated stopper layer for better combustion chamber sealing and offer all of the benefits of MLS gaskets. With that, they greatly improved on the clamping load around the cylinder to help prevent blown head gasket issues without increasing bore distortion. Also, a great complementary part to consider when replacing a head gasket or doing an engine rebuild would be ARP Head Studs. They will help keep your high performance engine, either boosted or naturally aspirated, from failing when you need it!

Key Features:
  • Helps protect your engine from failing during high stress driving.
  • Great for high revving, high performance motors or motors that are turbocharged, supercharged, or nitrous equipped.
  • Coated with Viton that is heat resistant to 250C / 482F.
  • MLS gaskets are ideal for engines with either aluminum heads and aluminum blocks or aluminum heads and cast iron blocks.
  • All Cometic head gaskets are specifically designed and built for each application. This ensures proper fitment and best sealing performance!
  • An easy way to assure your engine does not fail due to a "blown" gasket!
Thickness Notes: The head gasket thicknesses we offer are generally that of the stock gasket thickness. We do offer a few other thicknesses for select applications, but if there is a specific thickness you need that we don't list, feel free to email or call us with what you are looking for.

Bore Size Notes: These gaskets will work with either the advertised engine bore size or slightly less (by about 1mm) bore. Compatible with stock or aftermarket pistons as well. Email us to inquire about different bore size options.
