OEM intercooler systems are usually inadequate to sustain low air temperatures under aggressive driving situations. Plastic intercooler end caps and smaller, plastic tubing with rubber couplers often supplied by the factory will quickly get drenched in heat and are slow to dissipate it. Excessively high intake air temperatures results in huge power drops and poor performance, with increased risk of engine detonation. When power is raised above stock levels, the issue becomes even more prevalent.
