The Perrin Air Oil Separator is, as it's name implies, not a simple catch can. Unlike a catch can, these separators offer a unique approach to the same issue. The separator allows the oils collected to be drained back to the engine! This eliminates the need to constantly check the separator every few hundred miles and draining it like you would on a standard catch can. Simple maintenance is still required and will be detailed in the instructions on how to and how often it should be done.
The Perrin Air Oil Separator has different chambers within it to divert oil to the bottom of the can. From here, the oil passes through a reusable filter that removes any contaminant in the oils. A drain at the bottom then puts the oil back into the engine and oil free air into the intake. The bottom of the can is also heated using coolant to ensure the unit is the same temperature as the engine. This helps to decrease water condensation in the system and reduces the sludge found at the bottom of most catch cans.
The red or black ceramic coating provides a quality finish that you can show off under the hood while also ensuring it is protected from corrosion. Usage Notes: This system is designed to work with normal levels of blow by gasses. If you have an engine with excessive amounts of blow by gasses (built motor or higher mileage engine with loose ring gaps), you may experience a bit of oil passing through still.
