Axle kits include 2 axles and additional hardware when needed. Left or Right specific axles are sold individually and labeled as "Left" or "Right". Left is always the driver's side and Right is the passenger's side. Horsepower ratings are wheel horsepower.

The last step between getting power from your engine to the wheels is the axles, and Driveshaft Shop axles are the best way to make sure all that power gets transferred to the hubs. Stock axles are designed to handle stock power. Driveshaft Shop (DSS for short) axles are built to withstand much, much more. Offered in a variety of horsepower ratings, each axle shaft is designed to bolt up to the stock transmission and will fit the stock hubs, or come with new heavy duty hubs depending on the kit. Even at stock power levels axles can fail for a variety of reasons. Eliminate the most common causes with a set of new Driveshaft Shop axles.

DSS Axles are offered in different levels, each with their own warranty type and horsepower ratings. Use the handy chart below to figure out which axle assembly will best fit your car's needs.

Driveshaft Shop Axle Upgrades
  • Level 0: This is a brand new OEM quality axle assembly. These are designed for unmodified cars where you just want a quality replacement for a worn out or broken stock part. Each axle comes ready to install with all brand new parts and high quality grease.

  • Level 2: 400 horsepower rated and includes a 6 month warranty. This is a great option for street cars that see some open track use. Not recommended for drag use with slicks.

  • Level 2.9: An upgraded version of the original Level 2 axles, the Level 2.9 comes with a one year warranty and is rated to 475 horsepower. These are designed for use with high power street cars, or all motor drag cars. Still a direct bolt on replacement, and heat treated for durability.

  • Level 3: Axle and hubs included. These kits have a 500 to 550 horsepower rating, depending on application. They also have a one year warranty. The upgraded hubs allow for extreme street cars and mid-power race cars to put the power down without worry. These kits are designed as a full replacement part and are sold as a full kit.

  • Level 3.9: Even stronger axle and hub kits for high powered Mitsubishi Lancer Evos. Sold as a complete kit, it includes both axles and brand new hubs for cars making up to 600 horsepower. Also has a one year warranty.

  • Level 4: Designed for very high powered Mitsubishi Lancer Evos or competition drag use, the Level 4 axle and hub kits are rated usually at about 750 horsepower, depending on application. They also have the standard one year warranty. Uses extreme quality materials and metals throughout. Sold as a full kit that includes both axles and hubs.

  • Level 5: Designed solely for competition drag use, the Level 5 axle and hub kits are rated usually at about 750 horsepower or more, depending on application. They also have the standard one year warranty. Uses extreme quality materials and metals throughout. Sold as a full kit that includes both axles and hubs.

  • Level 5.9: The craziest of Mitsubishi Lancer Evos builds are now pushing well beyond the 500 horsepower level, and DSS realized there needed to be an even more extreme axle to handle the massive power. This is what caused the Level 5.9 axle/hub kit to come to fruition. Rated to 850 horsepower and still with a full year warranty, these are the most overbuilt axles possible. Polished spline lugs and tapered axle bars are some of the design elements that allow this level to handle such brutal power.

  • Pro Level: Built specifically for professional level competition use, this axle/hub/differential kit is designed for 4 digit (1000+) horsepower numbers found at top level drag race competition. Features include 108mm inner CV joints, 33 spline outer CV joints and hubs, special 28 spline spool which is 40% larger than the spool for stock sized axles. No warranty is available on these kits.
Fitment Notes: Some kits require assembly of the hubs or inner joints. Wheel studs that are included with hub kits are all ARP extended wheel studs.
