The ARP rod bolts that we sell come as a complete "kit" that include enough bolts for all connecting rods in your engine. Most kits are constructed out of premium 8740 chrome moly but some applications are constructed using "ARP 2000" material (which is rated at 220,000 PSI). All rod bolts that we carry are designed for use with stock connecting rods, although we can special order replacement bolts for most popular aftermarket connecting rods (please contact us for details).

ARP connecting rod bolts are a great upgrade that can be used with OEM connecting rods to help strengthen your short block assembly for additional power. OEM rod bolts are usually designed for stock power levels. When you substantially increase power output with bolt on parts, turbo kits, superchargers, high compression or nitrous the OEM fasteners can fail causing engine damage and vehicle down-time. To help prevent OEM fastener failure, we recommend upgrading your connecting rod bolts to these ARP connecting rod bolts which are much stronger.

The materials used and the manufacturing methods of the ARP connecting rod bolts are what make them stronger that OEM fasteners. All standard rod bolts are made from premium grade 8740 chrome moly steel and then heat treated resulting in a tensile strength of 200,000 PSI! Threads are also rolled after the heat treating process which provides additional strength and fatigue resistance. These methods and materials produce a fastener that is far superior to OEM grade in terms of service life and durability. The ARP rod bolts are extremely helpful in handing the additional stress of added power.

Installation Notes: "Pressed Style" bolt kits must be pressed into the connecting rods after the old bolts have been removed. We recommend having this done professionally as it is most easily accomplished with a hydraulic press. Also, journal bores should be professionally measured and re-sized if needed. Always follow the included ARP instructions during install for best results.
